My name is Courtenay Rivers and I am the librarian for both ARMS and EXCEL Academies at Morningside Middle School. In 2001, I received a Bachelors Degree in French from the College of Charleston. In 2010, I received my Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of South Carolina and have served as a librarian at Morningside for five years. As a child, I always loved to read. At the age of seven, my family and I moved to Wadmalaw Island for a few months while my parents were having a home built on James Island. I attended E.L. Frierson Elementary School during this time. It was there where I met a wonderful librarian, Ms. Singleton, who took an interest in me and encouraged me to keep reading. At the end of the year, she gave me an anthology of stories as a gift. I read this book over and over for the rest of the summer. I love chatting about books and I especially enjoy reading young adult novels and science fiction. My goal is to inspire the same love of reading in all scholars. When I'm not reading, I enjoy watching Korean television shows and dramas.
