Meet Our Administrators
Ms. Sharon Randall,
Principal
Sharon Randall began her career as a middle and high school English teacher for 15 years before transitioning into school and district leadership roles over the past 18 years. Throughout her career, she has developed systems and processes that promote safe, efficient, and high-performing school environments. Her leadership is rooted in collaboration with teacher leaders, the strategic use of data, differentiated instruction, and strong family and community engagement. Under her guidance, schools have consistently demonstrated academic growth year after year.
Ms. Randall holds a Bachelor's in English and Minor in Education from the University of NC at Asheville, a Master's in Special Education from Furman University, and Plus 30 in English and Secondary Administration Certification, both from The Citadel.
Ms. Stephanie Spann
6th Grade Administrator
Prior to joining the Mighty Mustang Family, Ms. Spann served as Principal of Simmons-Pinckney Middle School, where she was dedicated to fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment. While serving the Simmons-Pinckney school community, she led the work to help the school increase its school report card rating post-COVID. Before her tenure at Simmons-Pinckney, Ms. Spann was an assistant principal at James Island Charter High School for nine years.
She began her educational career in 1994 as the Director of Bands at Berkeley Middle School in Moncks Corner, SC. She has held various positions in music education and administration since then. Ms. Spann holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Master of Education in Secondary Administration and Supervision from Charleston Southern University. She has also earned a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Harvard Business School.
Ms. Kim Witherspoon
7th Grade Administrator
Kim Witherspoon graduated from Lincoln High School in 2000 and joined the district during her senior year as a teacher cadet and tutor counselor for St. James Santee Elementary School’s Kaleidoscope Program. Although she had a passion for working with children at an early age, it was not until her later years in college while working with the Gear Up Program that she realized she wanted to become an educator.
After college, she became a science teacher at First Coast High School in Jacksonville, Florida in 2004. Later, she moved back to South Carolina and began working in the science department at her alma mater, Lincoln High School. In 2011, Witherspoon joined the Morningside Middle family and served there for six years, teaching 8th grade science.
In 2017, she continued her teaching career at St. Stephen Middle School in Berkeley School District to be closer to home and her young son. After teaching 6th grade science for three years in Berkeley County, Witherspoon returned to the district and continued teaching middle level science. She became an Assistant Principal at Morningside Middle School in 2023.
Witherspoon obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry in 2004 from Claflin University. Later, she pursued her education and completed a Master's degree in Health Services Administration from Strayer University in 2010. She also holds a Master's degree in Secondary Administration and Supervision from Charleston Southern University, which she obtained in 2020.
Mr. Raynard Singleton
8th Grade Administrator
Raynard Singleton is a native of Charleston, South Carolina, and an alumnus of the Charleston County School District. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from South Carolina State University, as well as a Master's degree in Education with a concentration in Secondary Leadership from The Citadel. Mr. Singleton is entering his twenty-fourth year as an educator. Throughout his career, he dedicated the initial fifteen years to serving as a high school mathematics teacher, varsity coach, and Math Department Chair.
In 2015, Mr. Singleton transitioned to the role of Assistant Administrator at Baptist Hill Middle High School, where he served as the instructional leader for the Middle School. More recently, he completed a four-year tenure as the Assistant Principal at The West Ashley Center for Advanced Studies. During his time at West Ashley Center for Advanced Studies, Mr. Singleton was recognized with the 2023-2024 Project Lead the Way Outstanding Administrator award. This academic year, Mr. Singleton is eager to assume the responsibilities of Assistant Principal at Morningside Middle School. He is fully dedicated to fostering the success of all students under his supervision.
Mr. Singleton has a wife, Crystal, and they have four wonderful children, Christopher, Kellise, Savannah, and Sage. Outside of school, his family likes to spend their time gardening, taking family road trips, cooking, and walking.
