Ms. Rachel Ballenger
My name is Rachel Ballenger and I am the nurse at Morningside. 2025-2026 is my second year at our school, and I have over 27 years nursing experience in multi-specialty areas of nursing, with the majority of that in Women’s Health. I am looking forward to helping keep your child safe and healthy at school.
I am available in the school clinic Monday-Friday from 8:30 until 3 PM. The clinic phone number is 843-745-2025. Clinic is for the use of students and staff.
Please notify me of any health concerns that your student may have. All health information is confidential. All students must have an Emergency Health Card on file in the clinic. No medication can be administered without written consent. Students are not allowed to attend any field trips without a Health Card.
Medications that are available in the clinic are analgesics (Ibuprofen/Tylenol), cough drops, antacid and antibiotic/hydrocortisone cream. I am unable to give any medication for stomachache/constipation/diarrhea, allergy or cold/cough medications. If your student has any symptoms related to colds or allergies, please medicate them before they come to school.
If your student has been ill, they cannot come to school unless they have been WITHOUT vomiting, diarrhea or fever for 24 hours without taking medication.
If your child requires prescription medication at school, you must bring it into the clinic with the doctor’s order. No medication can be dispensed without a signed order from your provider. Please do not send medication into school with your student. This includes over the counter medication. Students are NOT allowed to carry any medication with them during the school day.
All medications must be picked up by the last day of school. Any medication not picked up will be disposed of unless prior arrangements have been made.
