8th Grade End of Year Updates & Activities

Scholars must meet all of the following criteria to participate in the promotional ceremony:

• Complete the Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) by Wednesday, April 15
   
• Return all Federal Cards by Wednesday, April 15
   
• Pass all classes with a 60 or higher by Wednesday, May 13
   
• Be financially cleared by Morningside Middle School by Wednesday, May 13
   
• Adhere to school expectations from Tuesday, March 17 through Wednesday, May 13, including:
  • Attendance: No more than five absences (including SC READY testing and final examinations)
  • Behavior: No Level III offense referrals
     
• Complete all 8th Grade Checkout Procedures by Wednesday, May 13, including:
  • Payment of school fees (including media fees)
  • Return of Chromebook
  • Clearance of grades and final examination requirements
  • Verification of attendance and behavioral status
  • Completion of IGP
  • Return of Federal Cards

To participate in the promotional ceremony, all scholars must adhere to the following dress code:

Girls:

• Must wear an all-white or all-black dress, or a white blouse with black slacks
• Dresses must be fingertip length or longer
• No halter or strapless dresses are permitted

Boys:

• Must wear a white collared shirt, black slacks, and black dress shoes
• Ties will be provided
• No black jeans, shorts, or sneakers are permitted

Additional Expectations:

• No athletic shoes are allowed
• No short pants, capri pants, or Bermuda shorts are permitted
• The CCSD Code of Conduct will be enforced during the promotional ceremony
